Jack Brabham approached Repco to develop a suitable engine, and together they decided to base the SOHC design on Oldsmobile Jetfire 2ci block with six cylinder-head studs per cylinder. The ’World Championship winning engine. It produces 4horsepower, 5Nm (4lb-ft) of torque and a wonderful sound thanks to its flat-plane crankshaft. The Bwas designed for a Repco Fengine. The idea was to race the car at national events as well as the hours of Le Mans and international competitions.


The car made its debut on 6th at Silverstone showing its potential with a victory and breaking the outright lap record. Sadly it was also very unreliable and the following year, Brabham dropped the motor in favour of the Cosworth V8. Heron heads were use with. Interestingly, there is a Jack Brabham connection with the project. The cylinder heads appear to be styled on the early 6style Repco Vheads but there is no mention of Repco. Graham Hill also present.
